The Minority Cell of Veeranari Chakali Ilamma Women’s University (VCIWU), in association with
the SC/ST Cell, BC Cell, and Women’s Study Centre, successfully organized a one-day national
seminar titled “India Together: Celebrating Diversity, Ensuring Equity, And Building Unity” on
the occasion of National Minorities Rights Day. The event had about 250 participants from
various departments and about 100 students took part in competitions.
The inaugural session featured Dr.Loka Pavani, Principal, VCIWU Dr. Inam Ur Rahman (Ghayur),

Senior Independent Journalist and Historian, and Dr. Syeda Azeem Unnisa, Associate Professor in
Environmental Science and Former Director, Minority Cell, Osmania University, as the guests of
honour. The Honourable Vice-Chancellor, Sr. Prof. Surya Dhananjay, conveyed her message
through the Principal, highlighting how education transforms lives, promotes institutional equity,
and creates equal opportunities. Dr. Loka Pavani further emphasized inclusive learning,
discipline, self-confidence, and perseverance, encouraging students to utilize equal opportunities
to achieve academic excellence, personal growth, and meaningful success in life.
Organized by Dr. Syeda Amena Kausar, Programme Convenor and Director (I/C), Minority Cell,
in association with the SC/ST Cell, BC Cell, and Women’s Study Centre of the university, the
seminar aimed to reaffirm the constitutional values of diversity, equity, and unity through
academic discourse and active student engagement.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Inam Ur Rahman (Ghayur) spoke on “Role of Minorities in Nation
Building,” emphasizing inclusive historical narratives and responsible journalism. Dr. Syeda Azeem
Unnisa delivered a lecture on “Pathways to Minority Empowerment In India,” focusing on social
justice, women’s empowerment, and sustainable development.
Student participation was a key highlight, with competitions such as slogan writing, essay writing,
e-poster designing, and poster making conducted in hindi, english, telugu, and urdu.
The valedictory session featured Inspector Sunita Surve, SHE teams, South-West Zone,
Hyderabad, who addressed issues of women’s safety, inter-cultural harmony, and social
responsibility.
The seminar concluded with a strong reaffirmation of VCIWU’s commitment to inclusive
education and constitutional values.
